Gloucestershire Library Update – want to be a digital lab Community Technician?

We are recruiting for 3 new Community Technicians to support our growing digital Lab network across Gloucestershire.

We are looking for flexible, forward thinking candidates, who are ready to get hands on with new technology and software to support small businesses, creatives and makers of all ages.

With an interest in 3D design, coding, electronics or virtual reality, you will work as part of a wider Lab Technician Team, sharing skills, knowledge and good practice.

❤️ Reading Well Collections

Children’s Mental Health Week falls between 7th – 13th February and encourages children (and adults) to consider how they have grown and how they can help others to grow. Reading Well for Children is designed to help children cope with feelings, worries, daily life and getting through a tough time. Brought to you by The Reading Agency (in partnership with Libraries) and recommended by children and health professionals.

We provide the ‘Reading Well for Children’ collection of books. Available to reserve on The Library catalogue or borrow from 12 of our libraries.

Got any unwanted/outgrown children’s fancy dress costumes lying around at home?

We’re currently calling out for donations! If you have any costumes you’d like to rehome, please drop them off to either of the following libraries – Prestbury, Quedgeley, Matson, Longlevens and recently added Churchdown Library.   

Each library listed above will be hosting costume swaps during February half-term on the run up to World Book Day 2022 which takes place on 3rd March.

There will be a chance to pick up a new costume plus a book to read similar to the theme of your chosen costume.


👉 Heads up for eBook readers

Here’s an  update on our eBook apps (Libby and Overdrive) for you. Reading eBooks is popular with many of our customers, therefore we wanted to ensure everyone can continue to download and read books without any difficulties.The older Overdrive app is being phased out from 23rd February for all devices except Amazon/Kindle Fire tablets.For users of Android or Apple phones/tablets, please download the Libby app if you have not already done so.Existing customers will be able to transfer existing loans, holds and wish lists to the Libby app, details are available on our website

🚨 Temporary closure update

Chipping Campden Library will close for a month while work takes place to improve our facilities for you.

Our temporary closure will take place between Monday 14th February and reopen on Monday 14th March.

Click and collect services will be unavailable at Chipping Campden Library during the closure period due to limited space, but the nearest library in Moreton-in-Marsh will be open for customers to use instead.

Pop-up library sessions will be running at Chipping Campden Town Hall.
